Write a paper that traces the history and development of a person, thing, or idea from its beginning in BCE to the present. Your topic must begin in BCE and must end in the present time or even project trends into the future.

Here are some possibilities:

·A theme-nihilism, communication, transportation, etc.
·A movement-feminism, civil rights, economic equality, etc.
·An item-the battery, farming, steel, etc.
·A development-sanitation, mental health, philosophy, etc.

Instructions:

Before beginning, discuss your topic idea with your instructor in order to be sure your topic is not too broad nor too narrow. Later in the semester, we will have a class day where we discuss your topics; please have yours ready by then.

Minimum length: 4 full pages, NOT counting your Works Cited pages Maximum length: 5 pages. Grammatical correctness covered in ENGL 1101(subjects and verbs agree, spelling is perfect, etc.). Papers can and will fail on this one thing, so make sure this is the best it can possibly be!

Basic paper elements as discussed in ENGL 1101. Your paper should have an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs of at least 7 sentences, and a concluding paragraph. MLA paper style: This paper is also a test of your ability to follow MLA style. I’ve given you guides and templates to make this happen properly, so make sure to follow them.

You must incorporate a minimum of ten quotations from ten separate sources with accompanying citations and Works Cited page entries. Your textbook can be one of those sources.
Any paper submitted with unauthorized online sources (SparkNotes, Wikipedia, etc.) will receive no more than 5 points for Development and Support. “Googled” sources may be accepted but must be cleared with me before use.

Firstly, Any paper with more sources listed than appear in the paper (or vice versa) will receive no more than 5 points for MLA Setup and Documentation.

Any paper that I cannot identify all of sources in will also receive no more than 5 points for MLA Setup and Documentation.

Finally, Any paper submitted without research, without in-text citations, or without a works cited page will receive a zero for MLA Setup and Documentation.
