Cover medical culture, ritual related to greetings and interaction, changes in religious practice… if you are interested, use your imagination and see how you can make it apply to Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion.

This could be an interesting paper, in which you analyze how enculturation is changing for children (“don’t touch each other or anything!” “wash your hands!” “We can only skype with grandma!”) or how things will be changing for adults, from how we greet each other, to mask wearing becoming more of a worldwide expectation, to panic-buying and what people buy.
One of the benefits of writing a paper like this is that you will have a record forever of your experiences- you would be writing this from both an etic and emic perspective, because you will be analyzing human behavior, and can also apply it to your own experience.
I can help you with sources. There are some great reporters doing work on similar material, and twitter is actually a great place to “see” what people are thinking and doing. Academic papers- well, it’s a bit early for that, but I bet we can find some.
I will provide a basic rubric below, but don’t limit yourself to this: you may have knowledge of the culture of the medical field- how is it adapting? Or funerals- how will these change when no one can come? And, of course… college culture! You are an expert. And if you want to interview a professor about the teaching end, you have an informant right here J
Here is a basic breakdown to use for a rubric:
1) Introduction- a brief history of the arrival of Covid-19
2) Social disruptions analysis
a. Panic buying
i. What did people buy and why?
ii. Consider “memes” as a form of social control- making fun of panic buying as an attempt to limit it? Encouraging of intrinsic discipline
iii. Major distributors stop price gouging and profiteering- also social control- extrinsic discipline
b. changes in greeting worldwide
i. original greeting method, and what it means to that culture. New greeting method, and its implications.
ii. Will handshakes disappear, for example, forever?
3) Lockdown/Quarantine Life
a. Elders in isolation
i. Changes for children and their social education
ii. Life for seniors upended
iii. Generational conflict: many young are refusing to quarantine, as they are less likely to suffer the effects of the virus. Possible future ramifications between generations.
b. Social media and technology
i. A way to keep social life going
ii. Ways it is similar
iii. Ways it is different
4) Human Adaptation to new circumstances
a. Things are rapidly changing, but this would be a section for you to really apply your opinion and your analysis as to how we are managing in this crisis. This may well be your conclusion, because this is still an evolving situation.
