We studied several essays on the subject on Internet privacy, one of many social issues currently being debated in society. Choose a topic dealing with a social issue and take a position on it.  You will need to research your topic and construct an argumentative essay. Support your points with sound evidence (refer to your textbook or the PowerPoint for a list of types of evidence) and address opposing views. Four (4) peer-reviewed, scholarly sources are required, but you can use more if you want (Refer to SVCC library notes in Canvas for research guidelines). Incorporate in-text citations in your essay and include a works cited page documenting your sources in MLA format.

Format:
Double space; Times New Roman 12-pt font; Title; heading in top left corner of first page with your name, instructor’s name, and date (day, month, year); header on top right corner of every page with your last name and page number.
Word count:  1250-1500 words in length.

Assignment Specifics:
Firstly, Take a position on a social issue. This claim should be clearly stated in the thesis statement.

Secondly, Support your claim with sound evidence. Also, This evidence may include facts, statistics, examples, reported experiences, and expert opinions (logical, ethical, and emotional appeals). Avoid errors in reasoning.

Thirdly, Address opposing views respectfully in a separate paragraph.

Fourthly, Focus on tone: state your views clearly but firmly, in plain language, and using words with appropriate, reasonable connotation.

RESEARCH: YOU NEED AT LEAST FOUR (4) SOURCES, AND THESE MUST BE PEER REVIEWED SCHOLARLY SOURCES.

MLA Documentation: Incorporate in-text citations (parenthetical citations) when referring to material/ideas from your sources.  These citations may be direct quotes and/or paraphrases. Lastly, Include a works cited page documenting sources in MLA style.
